ANOINTING OF THE SICK/FUNERALS

Anoninting of the Sick

The Anointing of the Sick "is not a sacrament for those only who are at the point of death. Hence, as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him to receive this sacrament has certainly already arrived.” If during the same illness the person’s condition becomes more serious, the sacrament may be repeated. It is also fitting to receive the Anointing of the Sick just prior to a serious operation. The same holds for the elderly whose frailty becomes more pronounced.  Catechism of the Catholic Church 1514-1515

The Anointing of the Sick is administered to bring spiritual and even physical strength during an illness, especially near the time of death. It is most likely one of the last sacraments one will receive. In more basic terms, it is a rite that is performed to convey God’s grace to the recipient, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Please contact the office, 513-871-3373, to request an anointing.

Funeral Policy

“The Church calls each member of Christ’s Body – priest, deacon, and layperson – to participate in the ministry of consolation: to care for the dying, to pray for the dead, and to comfort those who mourn.” (OCF, #8)

The Rite of Christian funerals is liturgical prayer. It is offered for both the bereaved and the dead. A sorrowful, suffering people gather to articulate their feelings and their faith in the presence of the Lord.

Our Liturgy attempts to provide hope and consolation to those mourning the death of a loved one.  We believe that death is not an end but a beginning. As believers, the risen Jesus Christ is our hope in the midst of our tears.

Please call the office, 513-871-3373, at the earliest convenience to begin the process of planning the funeral liturgy.
